About
Our team at the ARC Centre of Excellence in Optical Microcombs for Breakthrough Science (COMBS) is using technology – called the optical frequency comb – to drive society-wide transformations in the fields of biomedical imaging, communications, precision measurement and astronomy.
We will do this through partnering with scientific and industrial end-users to create new approaches and solutions in the biomedical imaging, communications, precision measurement and astronomy.

Our logo
The COMBS logo is a symbol of COMBS’ contribution to breakthrough and innovative technology. The ‘C’ is made up of line fragments that represent the laser light technology in optical frequency combs. The lines contain a spectrum of colour, which links COMBS technology with themes of precision and innovation.
The logo is designed to reflect the important role light plays in optical frequency combs – with the rays fanning out in a C shape to demonstrate collaboration and impact.

Drones that detect fruit ripeness and breath tests for disease detection – what impact do we imagine our Centre will have in seven years?
