Distinguished Professor Calum John Drummond AO is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Innovation and a Vice President of RMIT University.  He is an active research professor and has published over 300 journal articles and patents in the area of advanced materials.  He has a PhD and DSc from The University of Melbourne.  

Professor Drummond joined RMIT in 2014 from the Australian national science agency, CSIRO, where he was Group Executive for Manufacturing, Materials and Minerals.  Earlier, he was Chief of CSIRO Materials Science and Engineering and CSIRO Industrial Physics.  

He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (FAICD), Australian Academy of Science (FAA), Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (FTSE), and the National (USA) Academy of Inventors (FNAI).  

He is currently an external advisory board member of the Advanced Strategic Capabilities Accelerator (ASCA) for the Australian Department of Defence, Chair of the Australian Research Council (ARC) Advisory Committee, and a member of the Australian National Research Infrastructure Advisory Group (NRIAG).  

Professor Drummond was the inaugural Vice President Research at CAP-XX, initially an Intel portfolio company, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange (AIM). The World Economic Forum designated CAP-XX as a Global Technology Pioneer.

Professor Drummond is an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) recognising his contributions to chemistry and materials science research, commercialisation initiatives, and mentoring.
